House Groups

Ideally, we would love every person connected with our church to be involved in some kind of small group in order to grow as a Christian and to enjoy real fellowship with others.

Relating

One of the key ways to help new people stay in church is other people. If we don't build personal relationships in church, we'll feel unsatisfied.

Connecting

House groups are designed not to be Bible studies only, although applying God's Word is an important part of meeting together. The goal is for each meeting to be a time when everyone can focus on Jesus Christ and meet with him.

Caring

Since housegroups are the place where you are known best by others in the church, they automatically become the primary place where you are cared for. They are also the place where you have the best opportunities to give and receive support.

Growing

House groups are where you can discover your spiritual gifts, where you can learn about sharing your faith and serving others. It is a place where you can grow as a Christian and encourage others in their faith. The Bible tells us to encourage, serve, rejoice, weep with, share with, correct, instruct, sing to, build up, accept and love one another.

Serving

House groups can be a sanctuary from the pressures and anxieties of life. Yet, at the same time, they are not just for members to be mere consumers who attend only to be refreshed and restored. They are also for members to participate as servants who seek to refresh and restore others as well.

Belonging

So, house groups are foundational to the life of SSCB and shouldn't be thought of as a secondary involvement in the church or as an extra because they are the church. Belonging to one of these groups is a great way to belong to SSCB.

There are four elements which should be present each week.
