Give Blood

At St Stephens we welcome the Blood Transfusion service twice per year (usually in June and November) for the collection of donations of blood.

You can give blood every twelve weeks if you are aged between 17 and 66 years.  The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) provides blood transfusions for 100,000 patients each year and  2 units of blood are on standby for every hospital birth in Scotland.

The Blood Transfusion Service serves over 40 blood banks across Scotland and Edinburgh requires 300 new donors each week to maintain our blood stocks. During the summer holidays, blood supply can reduce by 20% over the holiday period so, please make sure you give blood before you leave the country for holidays.
