This page is dedicated to payer. At St. Stephen’s Comely Bank we are passionate about prayer. From private and personal to out loud and in groups, prayer works.
As a church we invite you to join our monthly prayer meetings – during the COVID-19 Lockdown we meet via Zoom, on the first Wednesday of each month at 19:00. If you would like to join us please let us know by emailing email@example.com
We are also happy to pray for you and pray with you. Please feel free to contact us with prayer matters at: firstname.lastname@example.org
In your prayer requests please keep confidentiality, as we keep it too! Please use Initials instead of full names!
From Martin, our Prayer Co-ordinator
No doubt, like me, you have been missing gathering at the church building on a Sunday, but we have been fantastically blessed by our ZOOM services.
At the moment we cannot meet to pray together but I want to encourage you to pray in your own private daily devotions; light a candle if you wish, pray as you are walking, set a time on your calendar that beeps to remind you to pray…whatever works for you, as you spend time with the Lord, knowing that when we pray God hears the pleas of our hearts.
To help you in your prayers, here is a weekly prayer diary.
Sunday: Sunday Activities – Sunday Club, Sunday Service, Inspire;
Pray that the Holy Spirit would bless and anoint this special time; that people, young and old will be drawn closer to Jesus and for a great sense of fellowship.
Pray for all those leading and participating that they may also be lead and anointed by the Holy Spirit, praying particularly for the preacher as they leads the main service, Youth Worker as he leads the young people at Inspire and the Sunday Club team leading the Sunday Club. Pray that all the technical aspects of ZOOM will work well.
Monday: Weekly Activities – Home Groups, Fellowship Thursday, Rock Solid, Kirk Session
Pray for the Home Group Leaders as they plan and lead these sessions and for all those participating that we all grow in our faith and increase in our discipleship. Please pray that others may be drawn to join the home groups and for opportunities to invite people to join and grow together.
Pray that more people will join in with the “Fellowship Thursday” and be blessed.
Pray that our young folk will continue to grow via Rock Solid and that more will join in the fun and pray for Philip and Alex as they lead this vital ministry with our young folk who are the church of today and tomorrow, that they grow in the Lord.
Pray that all the technical aspects of ZOOM will work well.
Pray for the Kirk Session as they work and pray to lead SSCB through the lockdown and how we respond to the future while being the church of Chirst.
Tuesday: CAP Ministry
Pray that we will be able to continue to meet the needs of those who find themselves in financial poverty at this really difficult time. CAP phone lines are open so please pray that people will be led by the Holy Spirit to make that call and be directed to the centre. All calls are now done over the phone and please pray that Martin has the capacity and time not only to assist with their debts but also pray for and with the clients, so that they can learn how much Jesus loves them.
Wednesday: Pastoral Care Groups
There are a number of people who are making calls and visits to church members, and others to ensure that they are well and safe during lockdown and self isolation. Give thanks and pray for all our members and those who are carrying out this ministry, especially for Joan Brown who is doing a great job coordinating this ministry.
Thursday: Those who are ill / in isolation
Pray for those you know that are ill and struggling with isolation and for those who care for them.
Friday: Key Workers
Please continue to uphold all those are putting themselves on the “Frontline” to support others at this time: NHS/ Carers / Police / Teachers / Shop workers etc, especially those members of our church family and their own families at home.
Saturday: Our Community
Please pray for our Community in Comely Bank and the surrounding area that in these times of concern, that they might turn to God for answers and that we at SSCB might have the opportunity to share our faith in Jesus.
