CAP’s service through the Edinburgh North Centre: an overview

Fact finding
Claire Baggaley, our Centre Manager and member of church staff, will visit you in your home along with a trained support volunteer. They will introduce the service and ask you about your income, bills and debts. This information will be used by CAP advisors to create a budget for you and work out the options you have for getting out of debt.

Additional visits: explaining the budget
We will then visit you again to explain your options and the budget prepared for you by our accredited advisors. We will take things one step at a time, carefully explaining how things work and how you can stick to your budget.

Continuous support
The next step is for CAP to contact your creditors and help negotiate a way forward for you. CAP can offer you a plan so that they handle your payments to creditors and deal with letters and phone calls on your behalf. CAP will assist you until you become debt free and all we ask you to do is to work positively with us through this process. Through the church Claire and her team can offer lots of different support as you work your way out of debt. There are life skills and budgeting courses, practical support or emotional and spiritual support through tea and cake, prayer and social visits and events.
